The Role and Position of women in Islam

Islam is the first religion that focuses and assures the rights of women. It pays greater importance to the women and their role in family and wider society. The western media is gravely depicting the ill condition of women in Islam. They are trying to their fullest level to deteriorate the position of women in Islam. Whosoever wants to understands the rights and position of women is Islam should read and understand Quran and hadiths. It is no where mentioned in Quran that woman is secondary or their importance are less. Islam pays is the only religion that stresses on the education of women. One entire chapter that is Surah Nisa has been written on women rights and position. It is clear from the sayings of Quran how important women are. It talks about the political, social, family and economic rights of the women.
< br> Islam says women are the great blessings. When she is daughter she holds immense rewards for her parents, when she is wife she is the greatest source of pleasure for her husband and when she is mother the entire heaven comes under her feet. Rearing of daughter holds more values and reward for father in this world and hereafter. It is mentioned in Quran and Hadith that rearing and educating one single daughter holds the value of that of three sons. Islam pays greater tribute to women when she is mother. The importance of mother is far much greater than that of a father. A mother value is three times more than that of a father. It is clearly mentioned in Quran that the entire heaven which is the most beautiful and marvelous creation of Allah lies under the feet of a mother. Such is the glory of women in islam.
< br> Apart from these, Islam also talks rather gives economic rights to the women. It frees women from the financial burden. It is mentioned in the Holy Book Quraan that the women role is running and managing the family that is she is entrusted with the management of household affairs and not obliged to earn money for the family. When is an unmarried she is the responsibility of the father and brother and when she is married she is the under total responsibility of her husband. Thus Islam frees woman from the financial obligation.
< br> It is only in Islam that makes mandatory for men to pay heavy sum of money when he is marrying a woman. The man is obliged to pay Maher to the women for her financial security. The amount of Meher is decided only by the women. Whatever Maher the women demands the husband has to pay that. It is the only religion that forbids paying of dowry rather stresses on the man to pay to the women who is marrying and also take care for her future needs and protection. Islam also gives the women the right to share in property. She has fair share in her father and husband property. Apart from these, Islam pays lot more rights to women.
